Motorola PMVN4059 is the genuine programming software for the, now obsolete, Motorola GP2000 analog two-way radio. Software Only. Please note this is software only. We are asked many questions centered around Motorola CP200D Programming. The following questions should be answered in this article:
- How to find my Motorola CP200 frequencies?
- How to program a CP200 radio?
- How to reprogram a Motorola Radius cp200?
- How to program a CP200D radio?
First, there is no visual way to identify the frequencies programmed into an existing CP200 without using some type of external equipment to read the radio. A CP200D can be read using programming cables and software or with equipment such as a 'Frequency Counter'. Below are a few options when considering the programming a Motorola CP200D.
1. Contact an approved Motorola Dealer
Let the dealer read and program your CP200D radios. This will save you the up front expense of the hardware and the time required to learn the basics of radio programming. This solution is best for those that will not likely make changes to the radio programming regularly and want to avoid the time required to learn how to use the software.
If you decided to purchase a CP200D from AmerizonWireless.com, we include basic radio programming with your new radio purchase. You can send us an existing radio to read and program your new radios to match.
2. Do it Yourself
You can purchase the required cables to connect your CP200D radio to a windows computer. This will require a basic understanding of two way radio frequencies to program the radio correctly.
Motorola CP200d Programming:
- The latest MotoTrbo Programming software.
- PMKN4128A - CP200d Programming Cable (or compatible USB Micro Cable)
Legacy CP200 Programming:
If you are matching a new CP200D to a legacy CP200 (Analog Only Radio) you will need a different software and cable to read this radio type.
- Motorola CP200 'CPS' Software.
- We offer an aftermarket USB CP200 Programming Cable that can be used in place of the OEM kit listed above.
3. Get Programming Training
Amerizon Wireless offers aCP200D Remote Programming Training Service that helps our customers learn how to program radios in house. This service is a one on one training service with our trained technician who will walk you though the setup of the software and cables then cover the features of the software and help you read and write your radios. Our customers have found this service to be extremely helpful and they use this to reduce the downtime typically seen when sending in a radio or taking the radio to a local Motorola Dealer.
4. Read Only - Freq Counter
Motorola Gp2000
A Frequency Counter can be used with your radio to display the transmit frequency being used on that channel. This device listens for a TX signal and displays the frequency number on a screen. Frequency counters are good for testing purposes and will only tell you the transmit frequency of your radio. If your radio channel is setup for simplex operation (radio to radio) then you will need to know both the RX and TX frequencies. If your radio is setup to work with a repeater system then you only have half of the puzzle. Frequency Counters can range from $500 - $15,000 depending on the frequency range and feature sets. Frequency counters vary depending on the features offered and may not provide you with all of the required information such as privacy codes so we only recommend a frequency counter when you have no other options. Even then you will need to provide the information pulled to someone with a computer and cable to program a new radio.
General Information
The Alpha series radios can be programmed from the front panel (selected models) or via Customer Programming Software (CPS). Commander models are pre- programmed at the factory and no field programming is required.
The pinout of the programming cable for use with the CPS is available here.
The part number for the CPS is PMVN4059/4061 for disks/CD respectively.
Cloning
These radios support cloning parameters between a master and slave radio.
Cloning only transfers the user's settings from the master radio to the slave. Things like tuning values, serial number, etc. are not changed.
To clone a master radio to a slave (target), perform the following:
- Make sure both radios are off
- Connect the cloning cable between the two radios through the programming port
- Turn on the slave radio
- Press and hold the 'A' button on the master radio and turn it on
- The master radio will display CLONE if cloning can proceed, otherwise an error will be displayed
- The slave radio will display PROG while it is being programmed
- When cloning is complete, the master radio will display END and the slave radio will reset automatically
- Disconnect the radios from the cloning cable
Error Codes
The following error codes may be displayed while cloning:
Motorola Gp2000 Manual
Error Message | Description |
TIME OUT | Data communications time out. Please ensure that the slave radio is switched on and the cloning cable is properly connected. |
BCC ERR | Data communications checksum error. |
TYPE ERR | Mismatch in model numbers. Please ensure that the master and slave radios are of the same model number. |
CMD ERR | Data communications command error. |
Front Panel Programming
To program the radio through the front panel, you must enter Programming Mode while in Dealer Configuration. This configuration/mode allows you to edit a number of features to enhance the use of this radio. Some Alpha Series radios cannot enable Dealer Configuration, you will have to use the CPS to program these radios.
The radio is shipped from the factory in User Configuration. In this mode, only a limited number of features can be accessed by the user. Channels and other radio settings can only be changed when the radio is in Dealer Configuration.
To switch from User Configuration to Dealer Configuration, do the following:
- Turn off the radio
- Press and hold PTT, MON, + while turning the radio on
- The LCD should display PRO-CLR
- To confirm switching to Dealer Configuration, press PTT, to cancel press any other key
- Turn off the radio. It will now operate in Dealer Configuration.
To switch from Dealer Configuration to User Configuration, do the following:
- Turn off the radio
- Press and hold PTT, MON, + while turning the radio on
- The LCD should display PROTECT
- To confirm switching to User Configuration, press PTT, to cancel press any other key
- Turn off the radio. It will now operate in User Configuration.
To enter Programming Mode, ensure the radio is turned off, then hold the MON button while turning the radio on. A ring tone should be heard as the radio powers on in Programming Mode.
To exit Programming Mode, turn the radio off.
All of the parameters that can be adjusted from the front panel while in Programming Mode can be found here.
A list of the PL and DPL tones/codes available is available here. B braun perfusor basic service manual 1.
Some programming examples are also available here.
Factory Reset
Performing a factory reset will erase certain user programmable parameters in the radio and restore them to factory default. This will clear all memory channels, phone numbers, and restores the default settings of RW parameters.
To perform the reset, do the following:
- Ensure the radio is operating in Dealer Programming Mode
- Press and hold - and MON at the same time while turning on the radio
- The radio should display INIT OK
- Press the PTT to confirm, or turn off the radio to exit
When the factory reset is in progress, the LCD will display INIT for one second. When the reset is completed, the radio will turn itself off and back on again. The reset is now complete.
